Assessment and Recording in Family Safeguarding

Audience: Family Safeguarding / Adolescent Heads of Service, Service Managers, Team Managers, Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Adult Specialist Workers

This workshops aims to support staff to apply the key principles of assessment and recording in Family Safeguarding to practice.

The outcomes are to:

• Understand how to ‘assess’ families using the Family Safeguarding Programme.
• Have a deeper understanding of analysis and critical thinking.
• Examine and evaluate approaches to assessing needs, strengths and capacity to support change.
• Know the importance of the use of the language.
• Understand how the use of Motivational Interviewing can support the developing of plans with families.
• Consider how Group Supervision supports planning and support for families.
